WICB issues clarifications to WIPA press release

In response to several media queries the WICB issues the following clarifications to two points raised in a WIPA press release issued on Wednesday August 11th. WIPA press release: The WICB has announced that it intends to retain one third of the participation fee of 500K. WIPA is unaware of any other Board retaining any part of the Participation Fee. WIPA is of the view that retaining such a large sum could have a direct negative impact on Guyanese cricket and its players. In fact, WIPA understands that no monies were deducted from the TTCB for last years participation.

WICB President hails Caribbean T20 as a huge success

The inaugural West Indies Cricket Board's Caribbean T20 tournament has been hailed as a resounding success. Dr Julian Hunte, President of the WICB, was full of praise for the organizers who worked tirelessly to put on the tournament and also congratulated everyone who played a role in the July 22-31 event. He also lauded the players, members of the management for the eight teams, and the match officials for their enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to West Indies cricket.

Foo does it again as Guyana lift Caribbean T20 trophy

Guyanaメs Jonathan Foo produced a magical display of power-hitting to stun Barbados and single-handedly won the inaugural West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 title for his country. Before Saturdayメs epic final match, the 19-year-old right-hander had showed great enterprise but he saved the best for the last night at Queenメs Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.

Bajans have Guyana under great pressure

Guyana only managed 44 runs and lost two wickets in the first 10 overs as Barbadosメ bowlers worked really hard in the final of the West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 at Queenメs Park Oval on Saturday night. Guyana will now need to get a move on in the final 10 overs to get the target of 135. Their two best batsmen Ramnaresh Sarwan (17 not out) and Narsingh Deonarine are at the crease. This promises to be a close finish to what has been a superb CT20.

Guyana bowlers come good Bajan bats fail to fire

Guyanaメs bowlers and fielders were on top of their game as they restricted Barbados to 134-5 in the final of the West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 at Queenメs Park Oval on Saturday night. Guyana will need to make 135 to win the match and take home the sparkling, new Caribbean T20 trophy and the US$25 000 cheque. It was the spinners who controlled the show ヨ sending down 12 of the 20 overs.

Carter holds the key as Barbados reach 68-2 after 10 overs

Barbados got off to a flying start thanks to Dale Richards but were pegged back by Guyanaメs bowlers in the first half of their innings in the final of the West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 at Queenメs Park Oval on Saturday night. Richards made 16 from nine balls as the Bajans raced off at 10 runs per overs, but at the end of the 10th over they were on 68-2. The other batsman to go was Kirk Edwards, who also made 16. Left-hander Jonathan Carter was going well on 27 from 30 balls but the Bajans will need a rousing finish to get up to a match-winning total.

Barbados win toss and bat first in CT20 grand final

Barbados won the toss and decided to bat first against Guyana in the final of the West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 at Queenメs Park Oval on Saturday night. Before the match both teams were met by former West Indies legend Clive Lloyd. The Bajans qualified for the grand event with their win over Jamaica on Friday night, while the Guyanese beat Trinidad and Tobago to book their place.

T&T bowlers keep Jamaica in check

Trinidad and Tobago squeezed Jamaica and limited them to 94-7 off 14 overs in the third-place play-off match in the West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 Tournament. The match started at 5.30 pm and was reduced to 14 overs per side after a sharp shower just before the scheduled 4 pm start. The best batsman for Jamaica was wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh, who made 40 from 29 balls.

Barbados get over Jamaica to reach final of Caribbean T20

Barbados played a good allround game to record a comfortable win over Jamaica in Semi-final 2 of the West Indies Cricket Boardメs Caribbean T20 on Friday evening at Queenメs Park Oval. The Bajans limited the Jamaicans to 153-9 and then strolled to 154-4 to win with more than an over to spare.
